LJ was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA just 2.5 miles west of USC. She attended private schools through the determination of her immigrant mother to provide her three daughters with the best education she could afford. She watched her father and mother work very hard in their professions and in turn wanted to do the same. LJ began working at age 12 for a gang prevention program, Save Every Youngster Youth Enterprise Society, where she worked as a tutor during the school year and a camp counselor during the summer for disadvantaged youth. Her mother also kept her involved with various groups in church to keep her grounded.
During her leisure time, she enjoyed writing, dancing, and reading books about love and relationships. She started by |
reading romance novels where love was sweet and perfect. Later she read “Waiting to Exhale” and watched her parents divorce, finding out that pain can come from love. She wrote poetry to document her experiences with love. She also created a binder to record her lessons learned and guidance from her elders. Dancing forced her to pull everything she had inside of her and throw it on the floor without having to say a word.
She went on to begin her college education and earned a degree in Construction Management. LJ has always excelled in math and science but her true passion and gift is encouraging people to let go of the worries of the world and just be free and joyful where they are in life, no matter where they have been. Childhood pains, adolescent heartbreaks, and young adult mistakes could have stopped her but she kept going. She attributes her personal success to writing, dancing, her † faith in God, meditation, the love and support of her family and friends, and the mentors she has met or have yet to meet. She continues her road of self-discovery while living her truth, being in love and enjoying life.
